The Mt. Zion Lions Club was chartered May 19th 1959 with 34 members. Today there is one charter member still living. In 1992 the current Mt. Zion Lion’s Center was dedicated along with four baseball diamonds to support baseball in the community.
The Lion’s Center is one of the Premier Rental Facilities in Central Illinois for Weddings and Parties. To rent the facility visit the Park Foundation page for instruction.
The goal of the Mt. Zion Lions is to support community events. Some of the events supported by the Lions are the following:
- Glasses for Children in the Mt. Zion School District who can’t afford them.
- Mt. Zion Children’s Christmas.
- Education by Mt. Zion Fire Protection District on Fire Safety.
- Project Graduation.
- Post Prom.
- Mary Bryant Home for the Blind in Springfield.
- The Flag retirement Ceremony to dispose of old and tattered Flags performed by the Boy Scouts on Flag Day June 14th.
The Lions also put up Flag’s on the following Holidays with assistance from the Boy Scouts.

- 4th of July
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
