32nd Annual Event
"Pony Express Days" in Mt. Zion, Illinois is an annual festival commemorating Mt. Zion's origin as the county's first mail depot on the road from Indianapolis to Springfield, in the late 1820's. This year's celebration will be held August 16-19, 2012.
Last year, Pony Express Days brought more than 9,000 people to the Pony Express Grounds, at the Mt. Zion Lions Center, during the four days of activity. We are hoping for an even bigger attendance this year. This year's activities will again include a 14-ride carnival, afternoon and evening entertainment, business and craft expositions, pretty baby contest, 5K road race, mud drags, ATV races, mud volleyball, Bike Nite, talent show, garden tractor pulls, live bands and much more. Being one of the oldest celebrations in the county, Mt. Zion Pony Express Days continues to grow annually.
